THE BEAUTY OF THE INLAND NORTHWEST IS UNDENIABLE. People here don't even try to describe it, they just take pictures. I'm proud to say that even before officially filing as a candidate I had been to every county in the district: Okanogan, Douglas, Ferry, Stevens, Pend Oreille, as well as parts of Spokane and Chelan Counties. And I had visited over twenty towns and cities. But as beautiful as the area is, I wasn't sightseeing. I was learning about the issues that are important to the people who live here.
THIS DISTRICT FACES SIGNIFICANT CHALLENGES. Small towns struggle with tight budgets, impacting infrastructure and school funding. Healthcare services, including dental, vision, and mental health, are often inaccessible. Veterans in remote areas endure long journeys for care. Water rights are a deep concern for folks in Okanogan county where so much produce is grown. And the issue of Apex Predators is ever present.
IN SPRINGDALE, MY WHERE I RESIDE, NEW HOME CONSTRUCTION SIGNALS FUTURE GROWTH, making southern Stevens County a bedroom community for Spokane. Balancing this growth with the needs and desires of the current residents is crucial. My experience on the Springdale Town Council has taught me to manage tight budgets and make tough but fair decisions.
AS A VETERAN, I BENEFIT from the VA hospital in Spokane, just an hour away. However, Vets who live in places like Oroville, Twisp, Republic or Metaline Falls face much longer trips. Olympia should work with Washington DC to establish satellite clinics in northern regions. Many residents also lack essential healthcare services, which is unacceptable in 2024.
IN A DISTRICT THE SIZE OF POLAND, the issues are incredibly diverse. The opinions of the residents regarding how to solve those issues are just as wide ranging. All too often our elected officials want to reduce the solutions to those issues to party affiliation. And all too often, nothing gets done. I am committed to looking past party to find the best answers, no matter the source.
This year, choose a representative who not only understands, but genuinely cares about your needs. Choose a representative who knows the value of teamwork; of including all voices. Choose a representative who wants to create the best solutions for you. With you.
Elect me, Paul "Rocky" Dean, and I will fight for all the residents of Washington's 7th Legislative District.
